Professor Peter Cooke
7 November 2016
We are sorry to have to announce the very sad passing of Professor Peter Cooke last Thursday 3 November 2016.
Peter was Emeritus Professor of Automotive Management at The University of Buckingham Business School, where he was previously Professor and Head of the Centre for Automotive Management from 2007-2013.
He was a well-known commentator on automotive issues and as a wheelchair user for over twenty years Peter was an advocate for disability; appearing regularly as a speaker, broadcaster and writer in the press, on radio and television.
Peter was held in high regard by all that came into contact with him. He was a consultant for the automotive industry, appearing as an expert witness in high profile cases on more than one occasion. Peter was a Winston Churchill Memorial Fellow (since 2002) and a governor of Motability, a non-executive director of Remploy for 7 years and a former Vice-Chairman of trustees for the Government’s Independent Living Fund. He was also the author of a dozen books and many journal articles and automotive reports.
Peter will be sadly missed by his friends and colleagues at the University for his positive outlook on life, his desire to make a difference and not least his endearing sense of humour.
