The International Conference on Human Rights, Sustainability and Climate Change was successfully held at The University of Buckingham on Friday, 20 September 2024.

The Keynote Speaker, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State Nigeria, Dr Alex Otti (OFR) was welcomed to the University by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor James Tooley, the Dean of Faculty of Computing, Law and Psychology Professor Harin Sellahewa, the Conference organisers – Dr Cynthia C. Umezulike and Dr Obinna C. Edeji, alongside Professor Nigel Adams and Julie O’Shea.

The Keynote Speaker, His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti (OFR), set the scene with a presentation on “Building Capacity to Support Sustainable Development: A Case Study of Abia State, Nigeria”.

Following the keynote speech, delegates from over 24 countries presented their cutting-edge and ground-breaking research, fieldwork, and practice. Seasoned sustainability expert Rose Heathcote was presented with a Sustainability Advocacy Award and law student Esther Abena Amaoko emerged the best and most committed intern.

We sincerely thank everyone for their contributions and participation which was crucial to the success of this year’s international conference.
