Finalist Prizes 2008
The Edgar Palamountain Award for Excellence
In 1993, a solid Gold Medal, ‘The Edgar Palamountain Award forExcellence‘, was instituted in memory of Edgar Palamountain, Chairman of Council at Buckingham from 1979 to 1984. The award is given every year to the undergraduate who is judged ‘first among equals’.
“Winning the Edgar Palamountain Award for Excellence was doubly special for me. The personal recognition was a real honour and a perfect way to end my academic studies, but winning the award from within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences for the first time in many years delightfully enabled me to highlight the brilliantly supportive, talented and passionate tutors I was lucky enough to be taught by.
My experience at Buckingham University was one I will never forget. I met wonderful people from all over the world who enriched my learning and widened my social and cultural knowledge. I benefited greatly from such small, focused tutorial groups and the close relationship I built with my tutors. I felt so lucky to be a part of the University that I even volunteered to be a student representative!”
Suzanne Louise Allington, BA (Hons) English Literature 2008
