Foundation pathways

The University of Buckingham’s Foundation Pathway Programmes offer a flexible and supportive route to undergraduate study. Designed as standalone academic courses, these pathways enable students to explore their interests while building essential skills for degree-level success. Whether you know exactly which degree you want to pursue or are still deciding, our programmes provide the foundation for your academic journey.

Our Integrated Foundation Programmes, in contrast, combine foundation and undergraduate study into a single, continuous course for those ready to commit to a specific pathway.

Key Differences: Foundation Pathway vs. Integrated Foundation Programmes

Foundation Pathway Programmes

  • Structure: Two separate programmes: Foundation (9 months) followed by Undergraduate (2 years).
  • Flexibility: Ideal for students who:
    • Are not yet certain which degree to pursue.
    • Wish to progress to a degree not available as an Integrated option.
  • Intakes:
    • September intake: September–June
    • January intake: January–September
  • Progression: Successful completion guarantees entry to a two-year undergraduate degree at Buckingham.

Integrated Foundation Programmes

  • Structure: One unified programme combining Foundation and Undergraduate study (3 years total).
  • Focus: A continuous, structured path for students already committed to a specific degree programme.
