Vice Chancellor’s Speaker Series – Alex Staniforth

Alex Staniforth is a record-breaking adventurer, ultra-endurance athlete, author and charity founder from Chester who is no stranger to overcoming challenges. At just 28 he has already survived the two biggest disasters in Mount Everest history as a teenager. However, his biggest challenges have been closer to home: with mental ill health, epilepsy, stammering and bullying since school.

Alex believes adversity is no barrier to achieving our full potential. So often, the biggest mountains are within our minds. Through embracing challenges we grow and our lives become more meaningful. He has raised over £100,000 for charity, become the fastest person to climb all 100 UK county tops, written two books ‘Icefall’ and ‘Another Peak’ and founded Mind Over Mountains, a charity to restore mental health through nature. In 2020 he ran the National Three Peaks challenge – covering 452 miles or 17 marathons in 9 days 12 hours.

Through his lived experiences, Alex will share how to stay resilient in the face of adversity, raise the bar and build an adventure mindset. Why settle for Base Camp?
