Dyslexia Hub: Dyslexia and Neurodiversity Day

The University of Buckingham would like to welcome you to the first Dyslexia and Neurodiversity Day!

Sarah Myhill, who is a Specialist Dyslexia Tutor, Author and Lecturer and her colleague Patricia Covarrubia, IP Reader in Law in the Law School, at The University of Buckingham, have prepared an eye-opening day into the world of teaching dyslexic and neurodiverse students in Higher Education (HE), Further Education (FE) and Post-16.

Sarah and Patricia will launch the Dyslexia Hub, the first of its kind in the UK, based at Buckingham. The aim is to ‘Educate the Educators’ in Post-16 Education where awareness and support are thinly spread, and so to make the academic journey of a neurodiverse student more engaging and successful.

The event will showcase research which demonstrates that awareness, effective study strategies, and alternative assessment, can make a huge difference to the grades and retention of dyslexic and neurodiverse students.

They will be supported with a welcome by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor James Tooley, and an opening speech by Lady Howe, Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire. Speakers include, Nick Hillman, Director of the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) and University of Buckingham Council member, Andrew Howard, a passionate Executive Head and Educator and a Champion of Inclusion and Empowerment, Andy Cook, Chief Executive at Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity, and Darren Clark, the Original Dyslexia Influencer, founder of Neurodiversity Hub, among many other successful projects and companies, who will all share their expertise and insights throughout the day. There will also be interactive activities and a Q&A panel discussion, so you will have tips and techniques to take away with you.

Free refreshments and lunch are included.

Tickets are limited so please do not delay.

Looking forward to welcoming you all to Buckingham!
