Professor Andrew Eder (BDS MSc MRD FDS FHEA) is an Emeritus Professor at The University of Buckingham Dental Institute and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He is also Emeritus Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Dental Education at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and formerly Honorary Consultant at UCLH and Pro-Vice-Provost at UCL having been a clinical academic at the Eastman since 1990.
Throughout his career, Professor Eder has contributed to the training of postgraduates and NHS trainees as well as provided high-quality care to patients with complex oral health needs. Academic interests include innovative methodology and technology in teaching and learning and the impact of lifelong learning on patient outcomes in clinical practice.
As a Specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, Professor Eder has also been in multi-disciplinary referral practice in Central London for almost 30 years. He has a special interest in the aetiology, demographics and management of patients with tooth wear and is Co-Editor of the BDJ book on Tooth Surface Loss and author of over 100 publications.
Professor Eder is a past president of Alpha Omega, the British Society for Restorative Dentistry and the Royal Society of Medicine’s Dental Section. He is an elected Board Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery and Chair of Examiners for the Membership in Restorative Dentistry, both at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Professor Eder has also served on the Editorial Boards of the British Dental Journal and the European Journal of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.
