So, where to start? Some of my close friends already know this story that coming to Buckingham was an accidental fate, but who knew that this accidental fate will be the key I was looking to realise what I am capable of to overcome my past and look at a better future.
When I chose The university of Buckingham, it was a decision born from a desire for redemption. After an unfulfilling experience with my first degree, where I simply went through the motions, I knew I needed a fresh start. My initial journey in education left me feeling lost and insecure about my abilities. I lacked confidence and doubted my potential to excel.
Choosing Buckingham was like taking a leap of faith. I was drawn to its two-year programme, hoping to reclaim the time I felt I had lost. Though the transition was challenging, Buckingham provided a supportive environment that rekindled my passion for tech. The small class sizes, accessible lecturers, and practical approach helped me come out of my shell.
One of the most unexpected and meaningful parts of my journey was the people I met along the way. I found friends who pushed me to do better, believed in me, and shared stories that inspired me. Their encouragement played a huge role in my growth. The support from the Careers team also gave me confidence that transitioning into the professional world after graduation would be smooth, while the Wellbeing team was always there to ensure I felt supported, especially during tough times.
Above all, my computing lecturers were the true MVPs of my success. Their dedication to teaching, their patience, and their constant encouragement not only helped me overcome academic challenges but also reignited my love for learning. I even surprised myself by leading a computing society as the social secretary and serving as an academic representative, achievements I never thought possible. Discovering my dyslexia was like finally having a name for what I had been battling all along thanks to the university tools and support to help me not only manage it but thrive with it and overcoming imposter syndrome were pivotal moments that turned doubt into strength.
Graduating with a first-class degree was beyond what I imagined. Buckingham’s nurturing atmosphere, combined with the support of incredible people, truly transformed me and set me on a path to achieving my goals. This is my story.
