Renata Franczak (BSc Computing with Accounting and Finance, 2018)

I never wanted to end my adventure with studying after graduating from high school. Studying at university was my dream. Unfortunately, for a moment I thought of it as “an impossible dream”. Happiness smiled to me about 8 years after graduation and it was time to start higher education. Choosing The University of Buckingham turned out to be the best choice.

At the beginning I was not sure if I manage to learn Computing. However, the way the UoB creates an environment conducive to independent and conscious learning, especially thanks to the excellent tutorial system giving each student the opportunity to directly contact people considered to be specialists in their fields, gave me the confident and helped me believe in myself. In a very short time I managed to meet fascinating people, ready to generously share their knowledge with others and support students in their journeys. I have received many opportunities to develop myself and best prepare for life. Completing bachelor’s degree with First Class Honour would not have been possible without the lecturers from the School of Computing who had faith in me till the end.

The university opened many possibilities for me. One of them is joining Vitalograph Ltd, one of the biggest companies in clinical trials environment, immediately after completing my degree. I am currently working as an Assistant Data Manager where my role includes validating clinical databases, designing and testing logic checks, generating data queries, performing different operations on data based on requests from clients and a lot more interesting tasks. The experience I have gained at Buckingham made me a stronger person. I still hope that someday I will be able to live it again and continue that adventure during postgraduate studies at University of Buckingham.
