Apprenticeships

Work-based training

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers. Combining work with study, apprentices develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours that lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

Are you an aspiring apprentice?

Boost your career with an apprenticeship from The University of Buckingham. Apprenticeships are a great way to upskill or reskill while in employment. Your employer and The University of Buckingham work in partnership throughout your apprenticeship to ensure that you are well supported and receive a high-quality learning experience. An apprenticeship will cost you nothing as it is funded by your employer via the apprenticeship levy.

Some of our apprenticeship programmes are combined with, or offer a progression route to, other recognised academic or professional qualifications, giving you the opportunity to extend your training.

Are you an employer looking to develop your workforce?

Apprenticeships enable employers of all sizes to use funds raised from the apprenticeship levy to train existing staff or to attract and train new talent. As an employer, if your annual wage bill is over £3million, you are required to pay the Apprenticeship Levy to HMRC. If you are a smaller employer (annual wage bill is less than £3million) you are eligible for government funding which will cover 95% - 100% of your apprentice training costs. In addition to workforce development, apprenticeships have other proven benefits for employers, including increased staff retention and improved productivity. They also help with future-proofing your organisation.
