There are several ways the University extends value for money to our students:

As an independent provider, 85% of the University of Buckingham’s income is derived from tuition fees, including those from UK & international, undergraduate & postgraduate students. The University does not receive direct public funding, relying on providing excellent courses. In 2023 9.5% of the total tuition fees was funded via the Student Loans Company and Apprenticeships Levy, the balance being funded directly by students, their families, and other sponsors.

The balance of the Universities income derives from accommodation and catering, validation agreements, research, donations, and financial returns.

The University expends all sources of income back into the University supporting the overall student experience, teaching, research, libraries, laboratories, and social spaces. A significant portion of our expenditure is allocated to staff costs including both academic and professional services and support staff. Capital expenditure in 2023 has focused on the refurbishment and refresh of teaching facilities and infrastructure.
