Ms Sarah Myhill
Senate Member of Council
Sarah Myhill is a Specialist Dyslexia Tutor and Lecturer at the University of Buckingham, an author and a qualified Mindfulness Now teacher. She is also a qualified architect and lighting designer but had a career change in 2015 due to some vision problems and achieved a postgraduate qualification in Language, Literacies and Dyslexia in Higher Education from University of Birmingham. She also holds Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA FE/HE) and Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE).
She has brought her creativity and visual training to bear on her current role by avidly researching a wide range of evidenced-based study skill strategies and presenting them to students in a visual and dynamic way, mostly in the form of workshops, delivered 1:1 or to groups.
Sarah has condensed some of her knowledge and experience into an accessible, positive study guide for students with dyslexia and for those who suspect they might have it, Be a Brilliant Dyslexic Student. Myhill, S. (2022) London: Sage Publishing. She puts forward tried-and-tested strategies, that she has seen from experience really work, to empower students to achieve their academic goals.
She gives talks/lectures on dyslexia awareness and study skill strategies, including concentration, mindfulness and memory techniques, mind mapping, and reading and writing techniques, to students and staff within the university, externally and to the business community.
“I am passionate about raising awareness of the strengths of dyslexia and of effective study strategies that can support achievement. My book allows me to reach a wider audience and hopefully boost the confidence and grades of more students across the UK and internationally.” Sarah J Myhill.
